Company History
Our story begins in Chicago, 1934. One day, a young man named Paul noticed a poised young lady sitting on the steps of a bungalow with her sisters on Flournoy Street. His heart skipped a beat as he mustered up the courage to ask her on a date to the Riverview Amusement Park. They fell madly in love, married, had two sons and moved from the city to the northwest suburbs of Chicago.
A few generations and many years later, their family decided to open a full-service car wash. Their vision was of a wash that not only offers impeccable quality and service, but one that is fun and feels like home – a place people look forward to visiting. It was only fitting to name the wash after their beloved grandfather, Paul Edward Colomer, fondly nicknamed “Fast Eddie” by his nephews. “Paul’s Car Wash” didn’t have the same zip as “Fast Eddie’s Car Wash,” so the choice was made and the rest is history!
The first Fast Eddie’s Car Wash and Detail Center opened in McHenry in 1998, and we’ve since expanded to serve our neighbors in Barrington, Crystal Lake and Huntley. Today we are known as the “Best of the Fox” in car washing and auto detailing (20 years running!). Still family-owned and operated, Fast Eddie’s granddaughter Kim Doherty and her husband Joe work tirelessly to uphold the Fast Eddie’s legacy.
